During my first semester, I struggled a little with the system. I was homeschooled from kindergarten through my senior year of highschool and was used to only using the computer for internet research and writing papers in one format. I was aware of technology: a stereo system here, a sound system there, an Xbox, a Gameboy, and all of my other little gadgets. But when it came to learning how to use D2L, vista, or banner for registering for classes, I felt like such a newbie! It took falling behind in supersite homework before I would go to someone for help.
I honestly do not believe that I am the only one who struggled with this kind of thing. Technology is tough for anyone who is not used to using it. This is the consequence of ignoring it – confusion and failure. I think every school should include computer classes and tutors for people to turn to if they need help. And I believe that individually, people should take on a responsibility as more of an opportunity to learn more and more about how to operate technologically as time progresses.
