During the Wiki-adventure, I learned how easy it was to edit and change the Wikipedia source. Although there are many different people that screen the edits, keeping them as close to accurate as they can, it is near impossible to keep Wikipedia a totally reliable source. There are just too many different composers and editors. Even after what I have learned, I am still a wiki fan. Wikipedia is the first link that pops up when something is googled, usually making it the most looked at source. I believe that it should be okay to cite Wikipedia as long it is not the sole source of a paper or project. Because of its many authors and revisers, any topic can have a very in depth summary that can be very useful to a college student for speedy compositions or making deadlines on papers, but it should just be used as a “starting point”. A college student should always look up and verify the information found on Wikipedia and cite the other source to assure that the reader of his paper is being completely accurate. This is why Wikipedia is often called the “uncited source”. Most college students use it frequently, but are afraid to cite it as a source because professors do not trust it as a good source.
